Most large commercial and industrial sites in Sydney draw every litre they use from the mains, and pay a potable water price for water that never needs to be drinking quality. Cooling towers, wash-down bays, irrigation, dust suppression, process water and recycling operations all run perfectly well on treated groundwater. Sydney Basin Water sources that water from beneath your own site or from a nearby licensed source, treats it to the quality your operation actually requires, and delivers it under a long-term supply agreement. What you gain is a second, independent water source that is not exposed to mains pressure limits, restriction cycles or connection upgrade charges.
The Sydney Basin is one of the most productive groundwater systems in New South Wales. Beneath the Cumberland Plain and the Hawkesbury sandstone sit aquifers that have supplied industry, agriculture and irrigation for decades. Reaching them is not the hard part. The hard part is proving the resource will sustain your demand, securing a Water Access Licence, building infrastructure that meets the national construction standard, and then keeping all of it running reliably for twenty years. That is the whole of what we do. You buy water by the kilolitre, and we carry the licensing, the plant and the operational risk.
How a commercial groundwater supply comes together
We start with your demand profile: how much water you use, when you use it, and the quality each process genuinely needs. That determines the yield we have to prove and the treatment we have to build.
Hydrogeological assessment and test drilling establish what the aquifer beneath your site will sustainably deliver. We do not commit to a supply volume until the resource has demonstrated it.

What you are actually buying
Sydney Basin Water is an end-to-end groundwater infrastructure partner, not a drilling contractor. We fund, build, own and operate the supply infrastructure, and you buy the water it produces. That distinction matters, because it moves the capital cost, the licensing obligation and the operational risk off your balance sheet and onto ours. There is no bore to maintain, no pump to replace, no licence renewal to track and no extraction reporting to file. You have a supply agreement, a delivery point, an agreed water quality and a price per kilolitre.
Where a site would rather own the asset outright, we design and build it and hand it over. Either way the sequence is the same, and either way the resource has to be proven before anyone commits to a volume. We construct alongside BG Drilling and work with Reditus and Tetris Capital on the infrastructure and funding side, which is what allows us to take on schemes at a scale most drilling contractors cannot fund or operate.

Licensing, approvals and compliance
You cannot take commercial volumes of groundwater in New South Wales simply because you own the land above it. Basic landholder rights cover stock and domestic use only. Any commercial or industrial extraction requires a Water Access Licence with share components in the relevant groundwater source, plus a water supply works approval for the bore itself, both administered under the Water Management Act 2000. Annual extraction is capped by the water sharing plan covering that source, and the bore must be constructed by a licensed driller to the national construction standard.
This is the point where most commercial groundwater projects stall, and it is the main reason companies default to a mains connection they do not need.
