Groundwater Supply Services

Groundwater supply services for commercial, industrial and irrigation users across the Sydney Basin, from a licensed source to a treated, reliable supply.

One partner from the first test bore to long-term supply

Sydney Basin Water is an end-to-end groundwater infrastructure partner, not a drilling contractor. We prove the resource, build the bore and treatment plant, and keep the supply running, monitored and compliant over the long term.

Most large sites in Sydney pay a potable water price for water that never needs to be drinking quality. Cooling towers, wash-down bays, irrigation, dust suppression, process water and recycling operations all run well on treated groundwater drawn from beneath your own site or from a nearby licensed source.

Proven before it is promised

We do not commit to a supply volume until test drilling and yield testing have demonstrated it.

Built to the national standard

Bores constructed by licensed drillers to the Minimum Construction Requirements for Water Bores in Australia.

Water to an agreed specification

Treated to the quality your operation needs, then tested and monitored against that specification.

Our groundwater services

Choose the service that fits your site, or start with a groundwater investigation if you are not yet sure what the ground beneath it will deliver.

How every supply comes together

Commercial bore water supply process step Design

DESIGN

Your demand profile, peak use and the quality each process genuinely needs set the yield we have to prove.

Commercial bore water supply process step Source

SOURCE

Hydrogeological assessment and test drilling establish what the aquifer will sustainably deliver.

Commercial bore water supply process step Build

BUILD

Production bore, headworks, pumps, treatment plant and delivery mains, built by licensed drillers.

Commercial bore water supply process step Commission

COMMISSION

Yield and water quality tested against your specification before the supply goes into service.

Commercial bore water supply process step Supply

SUPPLY

Ongoing operation, monitoring, maintenance and compliance reporting for the life of the supply.

A second, independent water source

A groundwater supply gives your site a source alongside the mains that is not exposed to mains pressure limits, restriction cycles or connection upgrade charges. The potable connection stays available for the uses that genuinely need drinking-quality water.

Sized to your demand

  • Designed around your peak week, not an annual average
  • Yield proven before any volume is committed

Looked after once it runs

  • Ongoing monitoring and maintenance
  • Extraction metering and compliance reporting handled

Common questions

What can non-potable groundwater be used for?

Cooling towers and cooling make-up water, wash-down bays, irrigation, dust suppression, process water and recycling operations all run well on treated groundwater. None of these uses needs drinking-quality water, so there is no reason to pay a potable price for them.

How do you know a bore will deliver enough water?

Every supply starts with a groundwater investigation. A desktop study, test drilling and pumping tests measure drawdown and recovery over time to find the sustainable rate, not the flattering one. We do not commit to a volume until the aquifer has demonstrated it.

What happens once the supply is running?

We look after ongoing operation, monitoring, maintenance and compliance reporting, including extraction metering, so the water reaching your plant, reticulation or greens stays at the quality the design assumed.

What does untreated bore water do to equipment and turf?

Iron and manganese stain surfaces and block emitters, nozzles and heat exchange surfaces. Hardness scales pipework and cooling tower fill. Salinity and sodium damage turf root zones and corrode fittings. Treatment built to the actual water analysis removes that risk at the source.

Where do you supply?

Commercial, industrial and irrigation sites across the Sydney Basin, drawing on the aquifers beneath the Cumberland Plain and the Hawkesbury sandstone. Water comes from beneath your own site or from a nearby licensed source.
